“Exhibits Around Town.” AVAA offers rotating visual arts exhibits throughout the year at high-profile locations in Austin. Exhibit sites in 2006-07 include the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, The International Center of Austin, The Austin Bergstrom International Airport, the Carr America Building, The Austin Regional Clinic, and The Austin Salon Series homes. Our new international art exchange brought art to Austin from other countries and takes Austin art to Denmark and the Czech Republic in 2006-07.
AVAA’s Exhibits Around Town provides perhaps the most significant interaction with the general public. AVAA works side-by-side with the public facilities, along with our corporate and private partners, in an outreach effort to bring artwork to the general public in their day-to-day lives. This provides artists with significant opportunities to display their work, Austin businesses with innovative, rotating art shows, and enhanced cultural tourism in Austin.
Since the program began in 1999, AVAA has organized more than 120 exhibits including shows at private homes, the State Capitol, ABIA, the Paramount, the Dell Jewish Community Center, Austin Children’s Museum, monthly juried shows at the Driskill Hotel, The Norwood Towers, the Austin Regional Clinic, the Carr America Building and more. The professionally-curated exhibits, hung mostly by member artists, are marketed widely to the public and to the arts community to support Austin’s cultural industry goals.
