The AVAA Gallery & Studios. From our central Austin exhibit space and studios, AVAA hosts local, statewide, national and international visual arts exhibits. The conveniently-located gallery space in central Austin is available for weekend exhibits by individual artists and arts organizations at affordable prices.

The AVAA Building is divided upstairs into 1,000 square-feet of studio and office space, and downstairs, 1,000 square-feet of gallery space, which is also used during the week as our life drawing room and meeting place. This non-traditional venue, a 1907 historic building renovated completely by AVAA members, has become an artists’ hub for studio work, exhibit opportunities, collaborations, professional development and community partnerships.

AVAA hosts group shows such as the Annual Membership Show, The Life Drawing Show, the AVAA/VSA Labor of Love Show, the AVAA Studio Artists’ Exhibit, VU Austin Juried Exhibits, and the Children at heart interactive exhibit highlighting AISD school children. In coordination with Austin’s dynamic film scene, AVAA hosted the Scanner Darkly exhibit featuring artwork by the artist/animators from Richard Linklater’s movie A Scanner Darkly. Exhibits typically reach a wide, public audience on opening night celebrations.

The AVAA Gallery & Studios provide affordable work spaces and exhibit opportunities to artists, and provide patrons and tourists a unique glimpse of the ever-changing, multi-media Austin arts scene.
