Leading Visions Seminar & Workshop Series
AVAA’s Leading Visions’ Series began in 1996 to address key issues facing today’s artists. Each panel features leading experts from galleries, universities, the press, the business community and the art world who share their expertise on issues pertinent to Austin artists.
The popular series, spanning more than 10 years now, creates an ongoing artist-centered debate that local artists, industry insiders and the public consistently count on to keep them up-to-date on the vital issues of today’s contemporary art scene. Topics include, among others, pointers on successfully marketing your art, the business of collecting art, what jurors look for, understanding the gallery scene, and how artists can most effectively deal with the press. The seminars are open to the public and free to AVAA members. Panelists have included Harry Ransom Curator Roy Flukinger, Austin American Statesman Arts Editor Michael Barnes, National Art Author Paul Dorrel, the Austin Chronicle Arts Editor Robert Faires, Blanton Curator Annette Carlozzi, International Speaker/Artist Edward Povey and many other leading experts.
