AVAA provides open Life Drawing art sessions every Sunday (2-5 p.m.) and Monday (7-10 p.m.) throughout the entire year at the
AVAA Building, located in central Austin at 37th St. and Home Lane (3707 Home Lane). AVAA hires models for two sessions per week for 3-hour intervals. The sessions provide artists the valuable opportunity to draw from life, a classic al art training tradition that dates back to ancient times. AVAA’s program is open to the public. It allows artists to hone their drawing, painting, & sculpture skills in an open studio format any Sunday and Monday of the year without the obligation of signing up for a formal class. Special sessions are also held throughout the year. The program reaches approximately 50 participating artists every week at the AVAA Building. Since the program’s inception in 1997, we’ve provided more than 1065 classes for local artists to hone their skills. Participants include artists of all levels, business people, as well as a growing number of computer animators and game designers from Austin’s art and technology industries who use the sessions to refocus on the basics of art in an effort to stay creative and innovative. The program has been a mainstay in the community for more than 11 years, allowing artists the valuable opportunity to collaborate and to continue their artistic development at affordable prices and at a convenient, accessible location throughout the entire year.
